My agony and misery finally culminated on the 29th, last Saturday, as we rushed to The Doll Affair and reached 15 minutes before the event opened due to a *$#@ing traffic jam. "Do you think we can set up in 15 minutes?" Djinn mused. "I think so." I said, with much misguided positivity. Well, we sort of did – if Petr would just touch Sei's hand instead of drawing it away in reluctance, if Si Ye would stop falling back and be a little less gay, if Ren would just settle into suwarikko. Amongst the terror of setting up in 15 minutes, my delightful cosplay buddies
raydance and
ivoryfox were deviously and annoyingly prodding me about the time, while
night_child80 was gleefully announcing the number of seconds we had. Thanks a lot, guys.
Despite all the pain I went through straight after the A'levels – there was no lapse of stress, believe me, it continued all the way through Christmas till then – we had a pretty good experience on Saturday, though our usual fuzzy recollections after the usual all-nighter. Djinn,
silencestation, has a good list of how we felt, and what we think here. I'm just going to be indulgent and cover our own shizzle; largely because 1. We were so. Damn. Out of it. 2. All my photos for the other booths failed like crazy due to the lighting. I sharpened the ones of ours into submission.
[
silencestation's report here - it is different. ASTONISH!!]
Firstly – since I was so busy until late November/early December, we died working stuff out in, oh, one and a half weeks. Display, outfits, postcards, etc. In desperation and Djinn's genius, we decided to make our presence at the event a pre-launch for Endless, which is our long-ago-named merchandise line [some of you who've seen the outfits we designed and made for Mistula might know this]. Djinn always wanted to do Giselle, and the Doll Affair gave us a good opportunity since we didn't have to do a cosplay booth. So at this lovely little pre-launch, I made two sets – one for display, one for sale – for each of the three designs we intended to sell. The display/prototypes were unfortunately turned…uh…unlike how we imagined because Dylon lies. So we had to sell the outfits off our dolls' backs. XD;
The stuff for sale in the event, therefore, was :
1. Actual Clothes [SD, SD13 Boy, YoSD] x3
2. Chokers [SD] x5
3. Postcards [Sei x15, Petr x15]
Here's how our booth – weenier than we imagined initially, which made Djinn panic the night before as she marked out the space on the floor – looked like, excluding the little corner selling postcards and jewelry :

On the left, [unfortunately you can't see more of the moon, the snowy night, Giselle's grave, mound, rose petals and that amazing Spanish moss] the display setup inspired by the second act of Giselle. Petr is our prima ballerina Giselle, the engaged-girl-turned-wili [lady spirits who were supposed to be wedded – oops.]. Seishurou, the guilty prince pretend-pauper Albrecht coming to visit Giselle's grave and condemned to dance to his death by the wilis, and Tsukisou, who is the angry Queen of wilis who really, really wants Albrecht to die. I know it looks more like Tsuki is rly jealous, but shhh and try to imagine, okay? XD;;;
For those who know the story of Giselle and their visuals, you'll realize that Tsuki's outfit, unlike Sei's nancy tights and Petr's expansive skirt, is not similar to the actual Queen outfit. This is because ours is ah, a reintepretation of the Wili scene. We felt that for our visuals, a parallel dynamic would work better for the Queen and Giselle. Our queen is thus based off a darker colour palette, but like Giselle has some flowing torn fabrics and a long veil of the same design. That's ourexcuse story and we're sticking to it.
On the right, is our happy little display of the outfits for sale! That'll be detailed under the cut because I'm sure the non-doll people on my flist are sick of my lengthy elucidation.
I will certainly be making more of these for sale when'er we can get Endless up, which will hopefully be as soon as possible. An MSD sized one is also planned, so there we go. Also, please note that these pictures are absolute crap and that when I sell them online there will definitely be better pictures. XD;
My sweet German-speaking flisty friends, please tell me if my German is totally screwed when I was naming the outfits. XD;;;; Also, pls note…er….the exhibition hall is veddy, uh, cold.

die verlobte for SD(/13) girls or boys; hopefully meaning 'the engaged', referring to Giselle in the first act. [Yup, she was engaged to some guy called Hilarion. That guy is rly sad, man. He dies later, too.] It's gradient-dyed a sweet soft pink that you can't see here. =_= With a rose stenciled on the right side – which you also cannot see. I'm such a damn genius. T_T The back is wider and accommodating for different sizes, but most importantly gathers gently when the ribbon is tied.
It was bought by lovely
raydance, who first pointed to it and asked if it was for sale. I distractedly said "No", because I thought she meant the SD13 boy one [which was sold by that time], missing the factor that she doesn't have an SD13 boy, duh. Djinn prodded me frantically and terrifiedly, whereupon I registered and said "Yes! Yes it is! You want hah?" We spent a period darkly winking repeatedly at each other, broken when she extracted some cash. XDDD I can't tell you how happy I am that you bought it, Rayray. ♥

der fremde for SD13 boys; also hopefully meaning 'the stranger', referring to Albrecht in the first act when he enters Giselle's humble German village as a handsome stranger [yeah, the ass was pretending he was a local lad to woose laydees. Also, don't ask me why she's called Giselle in Germany. I dunno.]. You can't make it out in this light, but it is gradient-dyed to a manly but romantic brown, with a stenciled rose at the bottom-right. [It also actually has a proper collar.]
It was reserved for a lovely enthusiastic lady who offered to pay straight away [it was to be collection at the end of the event, with payment then] – but neglected to leave her name nor number, only an email. I think she may have thought we meant as in "after the event", so I emailed her, but am currently worrying that it either never got to her, or her email never reached me. Will email her again.

die säugling for Yo-SD; also hopefully meaning 'the infant', referring to the joyful children of the village in the celebrations of the first act.Okay, so we kind of made this one up. Gradient-dyed green – though unfortunately a little dark, but it looks like a leek so it's still cute – and with a rose stenciled on the right and tied up little-girl style at the back.
This was bought by a sweet lady who liked it so much, even after I told her I wasn't sure if it fit Petit Ai. She was subsequently screamed at by
night_child80 who cried "It was you!!" when she came to pick it up from us. XD;
I can't tell you how wonderful selling these was for the ego. I got really attached to them, particularly the SD one, an I really didn't expect us to sell anything at all. I'm so flattered by all the buyers and those who stopped by who liked them enough to ask about them, and only sorry I couldn't sell more than one. I really hope the new owners are happy with them too. ::happy sigh:: Thank you so much, if you ever see this. I know
raydance will, at least. XD;
It's different from
silencestation's list, rly. XD;
Thank you :
raydance, who was sweet and accommodating, psychically powerful enough to sense my Money Brain Waves, and capped it all by ensuring the SD shirt went to someone wonderful. :D
ivoryfox, who came by with her camera and made fun of me. D:
night_child80, who I had a great little chat with when picking up the head from her, and for checking on us regularly!
gothiquelolita, for approaching us for the ZB interview and being so prompt and efficient in our communications!
blue_meddy, who was helplessly attracted to my Money Brain Waves and told me to show up at TDA again next year. XD
sassystrawberry, who was her usual sweet self and surrendered her terribly adorable Harmony to us for a good portion of the event!
Hanhow, who helped me lug in the set-up's stuff! T___T I really appreciate it!
starsthatshine, who was popping by constantly and left Reina to be part of my harem for a bit!
bankevair, who was simply wonderful to us and had a very nice talk with us after the event!
lavenderlilz, who came by and discussed some Transformers. XD
lightlybattered, who also came and told me that ballet reminded her of Transformers now, thanks for the mindfuck. XDDDD
district10, who hopped to the booth for a chat – we were sad we hadn't been able to see her all event!
jshan, who kept us company at the booth and entertained us with reports of the event beyond our little corner. You were indispensable.
sukuishi, for NOTHING – who walked right past us when she was supposed to be manning our booth. XD Well, who came for us and bought a postcard.
Mori and friends, who came by to say hello and lent me their cute Haruhi and Yuki!
piyo2himi, who found me and said hi! This was our first physical meeting!
erushi, who was a cupcake and so nicely came over despite being busy!
nescienx, who came and kept us company for a bit with a wonderful conversation. It's been so long!
edaburi, who let me handle her piggy when she popped by!
sfsakana, who sweetly visited us!
My NYGH junior, who came to show us her own Margaret after approaching me in school at the Festival of Arts!
Jacky and Candy, [and Candy's mom XD] who came to say hi, though prolly being busy beyond imagination.
unit545, who dropped by and wanted to buy der fremde! I was so touched but I was an idiot who didn't put her down here earlier. Please forgive me!!
- if I left you out because I was so stoned, please let me know so I can thank you properly! T_T
There we go! Like said, thank you all very much for making our TDA lots better, and we hope we'll see you again next year. :D
But before I go – we still have some chokers and postcards for sale!

Each postcard, as seen on the right and left [Sei and Petr] is USD1.50, and will be sent to you in an envelope. Both of them join up to make one continuous picture, so do buy a pair!
The chokers, made by
silencestation, can be seen better here :

Made for SD-size, these chokers are to be tied and can be loose or snug. Don't worry, all chains are of even lengths and hang well – I was careless when I took the photos. XD; Only these two are left. Each of them are USD7. [The pink chip choker is on hold~]
If you are interested in any of the items, please comment here and let me know! Non-CC Paypal is preferred, as we'll need to charge 4% extra for CC-Paypal. Thank you very much!
Phew! I'm done! XD;
