Next year end will mark 10 years since I started cosplaying. Creepy! Admittedly I can't say it's much of an achievement, getting old, because my vanity gave way to featuring my bjds' resinous perfection instead, but I still love the idea and would like to continue the hobby even if college threatens to consume whatever sanity is left. [If I had a gun....and if I weren't quite so logical I'd be like an idiot smoking pot, which alludes to shooting people in the head.]

There's really no point allowing fleeting fancies to drive my plans anymore since I don't have time, so I settled on a more solid list of people I'm so interested in and attached to that I really wouldn't care whether or not they'd been done a million times before. [Handily, most of them I love so much that they're relatively obscure, and so...]

Perma-list, largely for me own reference… )

Gee, it looks like the year is beginning quite crappily for lots of us. I hope that it all gets collectively better soon.

I'm terribly sorry I seem to be spamming nearly every day, but it's beause I (relatively) have the time, that definitely will wear off soon.

More school matters. )

Comics suck. [Identity Crisis and Daredevil spoilers.] )

On another hand, Chinese New Year is coming, and I'm not looking forward to meeting most of the relatives on my dad's side - I'm not sure what to say about people who talk to his girlfriend more than they talk to Djinn and I combined and I'm nearly looking forward to studying for the history map test after CNY.

Also, I've started to draw again! I think I've improved. Yay! I'm also working on YBH, but Djinn is using the tablet right now, so I can't work on more of it. And I seem to get sleepy earlier and earlier nowadays!

Impending Doom

Terrified of tomorrow. Not that I didn't study, I hardly think it possible anybody didn't study - and not because I didn't finish studying - I think I hit the saturation point of nothing else going in. And I'm not sure what to do with it, like I've got this little mine in my head full of opals and perhaps diamonds even but I'm wandering around with a pick and I can't find the entrance. Or not know how to use the pick. In any case, I think it be good that I am nervous about it, it's Natural.

[Tomorrow, by the way, to insert context, is the first day of the written O'level exams for me.]

I seriously hope things pop out of my head tomorrow and fall on the paper. Being buried by social studies would be sad.

I also dearly hope my elementry maths paper 1 will be okay. In any case, I'm just doing my best and going away from people as soon as I can after the exam because I don't like to stick around and hear people talk about how fantastic/awful their paper was and discuss the answers in self-doubt and exclaimation - can't you learn how futile is it and stop gloating/moaning about your answers? Does it really enrich your examination experience? Obnoxious/sadistic.

Impending Dollmore Order
I've changed the date of the Dollmore Group Order to the 13th of November, to give time for Dollmore's handling and shipping as well as to ensure the items are less likely to sell out. So those who've expressed interest - Joey, Judy? - do inform me if you want anything before that. Seph, I'll check the shipping for you when I can.

Impending Geekiness
Of all the comics to adore it has to be Daredevil. Thanks, Djinn! Thanks, guy on scans_daily who posted the fantastic Bendis arcs! [that was supposed to sounds sarky.] A few weeks and we've ended up with 5 tradepaper backs. But the writing and the art - utterly fantastic. Makes me happy to read, it's so wonderfully lovely and touching. We like it so much that we've started another FST - for Daredevil. Oh, geeky joy. I thought it was bad enough we loved Ultimate Fantastic Four already...

I'm also, oddly, feel a small urge to cosplay. [Okay, stop with all the "Doesn't she always?" jokes.] It's probably the fact I have to immediately start work on our dolls' costumes and my own Tsugiri costume right after the exams to get them done in time for the con. In any case, my plans for now are : 1. Tsugiri [Alichino, EoY 2005], 2. Robin/Tim Drake [Teen Titans, Cosfest 2006], 3. Usaki Toudou(?) [DOLLS, EoY 2006], 4. Idaeus [Ragnarok Online Thief, slowly and a photoshoot sometime]. Idaeus, my own thief (hopefully soon assassin) in RO will be a slow sewing project for me - nearly two years of sewing for BJD now and I haven't really done much all by myself on the sewing front for my own cosplay. XDD ::dies:: Perhaps 2007 will be my white sclera year, with 5. Watanuki [xxxholic], 6. young Cable [Cable and Deadpool], 7. Wiccan [Young Avengers]. I'm starting to drift towards comic costuming, and I'm actually really happy about that. The only thing is that superheroes are a lot more demanding than anime/manga characters. XD;;; Also, [info]sassystrawberry, I've drawn out the Matsulika costume sheet, whenever you want it tell me.

Back to the topic of comics, I'm using a new Daredevil icon! I made it. XD You can see how fantastic the art is in that little 100x100 pixel box. Unfortunately, uploading it meant I had to finally delete all my other old icons. I should just make a page to pop all my icons on sometime.

Well! Good luck to myself, and everyone out there who needs it, excluding most of my classmates because a) you can fend for yourselves, b) I need your luck more than you do. It's late, I really should sleep.

If it looks like it works and it feels like it works, then it works [Hurrah! I've found my O'level theme song.]

We've got internet again! But Djinn is using the only comp with Internet access, so I'm still on her laptop Ernst jacking people's networks until our wireless is installed.

As of now, suddenly there's a whole rush of things to do, oddly, costume-wise. Due to school, no less. They have this biannual 'Arts Fest' biz, which makes me end up kinda busy, and also the Neil Gaiman signing on a school night. ::sigh::

Next week Tuesday recess, I think, I'll be 'demonstrating anime art', apparently to 'illustrate the finer points of Japanese comic art'. With a display board no less, which means I have to dig up stuff to put up and prepare stuff to draw for demonstration on that day. Two other people will be with me - Liu Bei [a junior from China who will be cosplaying Kadaj on EoY] and someone I don't know.

Next week Friday, is the school's celebration of both Youth Day and Racial Harmony Day together, and I'm not insane enough to try to actually FINISH my Fatal Frame Chitose costume, which means I'll be there in plain red kimono. I suppose that's not too busy-ish, but still. XDDD

Next week again, Gaiman signing - Djinn and I are doing something special for that, so it's going to make me really busy and rushed.

AND next week again, due to Mainey and Feli's whining and whinging, I WILL be at Cosfest but for a little while, and in a super-simple cheaty costume - Ritsuka of Loveless. Sorry Raydance, for not doing it fast enough, I wanted to do his costume properly but I won't have a proper one yet, not till a while after Cosfest even. I wanted to make his first manga costume, but I have no time and money for it yet, so the Cosfest costume is going to probably be something quite retarded. XD;; I already have very nice - if I do say so myself XD; - ears and tail. And will have Si Ye as Seimei. But that's kinda crappy too, but anyhow, I shall clutch on him protectively and miserably. On the other hand, I will tug on Raydance's costume and go "Soubi, wakanai, wakanai~~" and shape my wired, stuffed tail into a ?. XD It can do it. It's really funny.

The week after next, is a little event thing - that is, commonly known as Cosplay Day. Interestingly enough, this event was suggested and put into action by my current AVA Club teacher, who was very inspired by my cosplaying and all and decided to suggest this to the Arts Fest coordinators. So guess what? Here I was, all prepared to pull out Ritsuka from Cosfest again, and then Natalie goes - "HEY! I'm going to get a Batman mask and annoy the heck out of Mr Kuo!" [who is a very snarky teacher who loves the Dark Knight, so to speak].

I've graduated into wanting to do superhero costumes, and so when I heard this, I went "Ouuu~~" longingly, "I always wanted to cosplay Robin."
Nat is a little taller than I, just a little. And I was saying about how, I would go around saying "HOLY HOLES IN DONUTS BATMAN!" or "HOLY CONTRIBUTION TO JUVINILE DELINQUENCY BATMAN!" and I said - "I'll consider it."

"I'll consider it." is a very dangerous statement. It means "Oh shit, I wanted to cosplay him. Seriously did. I'll think about it." and will later morph into "Screw silly catears, let's go for the Big Bang and slap in an entire, Tim Drake, Robin III costume with a LITTLE bit of simplification I'll just perfect later!"

So I'm now broke over buying red pleather and jungle-green nylon for Robin. There was JUST enough for each material to make whatever I needed. Fate? I hope so. Will have to recruit help from Nice Grandmama Who Can Sew Very Well, and explain to her in chinese - "It's for school! And er, very Urgent!"

Which is, um, all true, but still. XD;

I hate you, Nat.

On the other hand, Azri is back in the house! Finally! He's being really affectionate and says "hmi". Not "Hi", but that's about as close to "Hi" he got to typing. Unpacking is such a pain, on another hand, and the place is toooo small for all our stuff! I've been tagged twice for the music meme, I know, when I post it I'll be uploading MP3s, so wait, wouldja?!

Also, on an afternote, my Olevel listening examination is on the same day as Cosplay Day. Which means, I will be taking my Olevel listening examination as Tim Drake, Robin III. Is that awesome, or what?

EDIT I've found a decent Ritsuka costume! But I just found out there's a coloured version and I can't find it ANYWHERE! ::cries:: Does anyone collect Zero-Sum [also serialises Saiyuki]? I need the first coloured page of the third chapter of the arc concerning the online RPGish thing where Ritsuka meets the three teachers!

::fwooshes around from nausea:: oddly today I feel a terrible urge to hurl. This isn't good, because tomorrow I'll have to run 2.4 km, take a math test and confront my english oral and my examiner, Mr Adrian Chan. I bet it was my dad's cooking - of all the kinds of prawns to buy to dump in a lot of ginger and fry, does it have to be fertilized prawns?

I suspect I sound dour in the beginning of every LJ post because I'm constantly listening to alt/emo music. XD;;; which is where I get all my totally awesome entry titles from.

After being inspired by [info]embryophyte's post on Star Wars M&Ms, Djinn and I went out to Find the Force, or Eat It. I'm on the Jedi's side - I don't eat dark chocolate. Djinn reasons that means I must be on the Dark side, because I keep devouring the Wookies and the Jedis. I started to feel a little happier because it makes more sense for me to be on the Dark Side, and Djinn to be on the good side - she eats the dark chocolate M&Ms.

On the other hand, tangled has been updated and probably won't be updated for the next month or so, because Djinn is going to have her exams, and after her exams, it's my exams.

Dollygirl is one of the new photoshoots for today's update. Djinn and I meant to post the mini-Pullip with full explaination a while back, but then we both were too lazy, so so much for that. I'll post it when I do.

Annnd constipated little git of the day. XD This is how he used to dress at home back in Japan, his mother is Caucasian. A picture from the photoshoot Princeling.

Last image, I promise. From the second Japan photostory we just uploaded.

Djinn should be setting up Renren's Pinky Street site after her exams - it's called Avenue P. [Just one off from Q!] All the Pinkies in this picture is involved in elaborate, yuri relationships. Except for Rei Ayanami.

Also, Djinn and I have finally jumped off the deep end. First, Static Shock. Djinn just had to get back to reading comics - as in, $5 a thin booklet monthly-type comics, DC type comics. She started out all Marvelly, and feels kinda bad obsessing over Static Shock and now the ex-Young Justice and the new Teen Titans, but then I remind her "Marvel totally screwed us over dude, like Scott with Emma Frost? What's up with that?" and then she feels all justified and then buys all the Teen Titans off the shelf.

$5 a month may not sound very dangerous, but it is when you suddenly get into it after it's been going on for a year or so. You accumulate all those, and then realise that Young Justice is before that and it went on for about a year or so, and then you accumulate all that and then I realise that I suddenly need to clear out another closet shelf for all the comics that just hopped out of the "Absolute Comics" bag.

How getting back into comics sucks. )

How I still love Robins. )

How I show my love for Robins. )

On the other hand, I found my perfect Richie sweater and I'm going to edit it as soon as I can - probably after my midyears. Djinn and I have somewhat been active in the_gas_station, which is a Static Shock community. We're already chalked down as "the dude who does nice art" [Djinn!] and "the dude who does animated icons" [Me!]. I've done about six icons and Djinn's done two fanarts, both coloured by me because I love doing it and Djinn would never finish it otherwise. XD I think we both haven't posted it on our personal journals because no one would be interested and everyone is probably pretty sick of us all over Static Shock already. XD;

Also, if anyone would actually like, do commission me for art done with Copics. XDD I enjoy doing them, and I'm quite quick with them, and I'm in need of money for the Unoa girls. ::looks at [info]shinigamid:: don't forget! Please don't ask about commissioning any SD clothes or kimonos around now, because there're a lot [in my opinion ^^;;] of commissions I have on my hands right now that I can't do because sewing takes more time and effort. Thanks a lot if you even thought about it though! And thanks for all the people who commissioned me so far, and assured me you don't mind waiting. ♥

If you're wondering about my icon, it's made out of a lovely picture taken by [info]bluestraggler which had me, Bern [my Tezuka], Akiko [my Kikumaru] and Nic [my Sanada] in it. I really liked it so I made an icon out of it, buchou's hand kept getting in the way and so I included pretty Bern inside. XD Thanks for the photo Nat, I hope you don't mind me using it for an icon.

A last doll request before I go - anyone have any pictures of a Souldoll next to a SD? When I say SD, I mean SD sized, but if otherwise, it's okay too. I'd like to see how the sizes match and especially the skin colour. Thanks a lot.

Anyway, was just digging up X-Men comics for Djinn for her ref for MAG. Enjoyed it actually, and ended up flipping through my 'Sixties' Archie special, the X-Babies and Gen X stuff. It's really where Djinn and I started on the comic scene, and the beautiful cards [some with SIGNATURES!] bring back nice memories. Staring at Gen X stuff reminded me of how cute these silly teenagers were, and X-Men stuff are still so cool. I don't really know the scene by now - too much to catch up with and they end up more expensive than manga, anyhow. But it was fun. ^^ X-Men!

The Persona soundtrack is really good, the mood is really there. Not that I expected any less from Persona of course. It's fantabulous. And some of them have this heartbeat thing oging on in the background, it bring back memories of playing Persona in the dead of the night, with the creepy zombie students and nurses telling us how 'they want to be human again' and things like that.

Listening to a very battle-sequence screams thing. Gorgeous, that's what it is. Gorgeous. I so love Persona. Too bad the second one was never released in English because of the drive-by shooting.
