EDIT: Sorry folks. Really tremendously apologetic - massively terrible post to fuck up lj-cutting for.

Largely for my own reference, because I was thinking about this a while ago and was horrified to see I'd only done 2006. Much page-stretching and browser-killing to ensue below cut, because that is the nature of 'art'.

Anyway, my birthday. So full of win-type wonderful. I stayed up with [info]silencestation who was obsessively finishing up my gifts that I had berated her the upteenth time not to kill herself over [though a good part of it was me selfish fault, since she asked 'option A or B' and I said 'gosh I can't make up my mind, both? 8DDDD'], to finish this up:

inking progression... )

Until Djinn was completely out of it and done, so after rudimentary breakfast off to bed until a few hours later. Got up just in time to have the Dad pop by with deliriously $12 cake, that has a strangely long and complicated story of Djinn not revealing what's on it until the day of my birthday itself. Long story short, I had no idea what was on it, and Djinn was being self-derogatory as per usual so I don't trust a fucking word she says.

So lovely and adorable it's mad.. I spent probably 15 straight minutes bashing Djinn's head in until she stopped complaining about it so I'm just reiterating the long-short here.

Past that it was just a lot of cooking, as far as I could remember: brining, soaking, washing, de-scaling, etc… And then it was dinner. The light over the dining table had blown, so the Dad moved the table outwards towards the lit area of the living room – a little off the area of the telly, where Man U was playing Arsenal at home at 7.40pm. I was craning my head over as I poured the sparkling juice, because of my now not-so-recent revelations that I am alcohol-intolerant…

Yay seaaaafood! )

After dinner the dad dutifully washed up, while - get this, Djinn and I sat there in front of the telly gaping while Man U boringly inched closer to wrapping up the English Premier League title. My dad passed by, sat down, got bored and went away. He came back a while later, looked over, clucked his tongue about how the match must suck because there no goals at all [we conclusively agreed, though still not peeling our eyes from the screen] and then went to play with the cat. He was kind enough to agree to cake-time after the match. In the meantime, we went crazy over the crappy footage, and my dad went downstairs to buy a newspaper and retrieve the mail [I got three postcards: GB-75134, PT-82389 and NL-164079! Got a bunny one the day before, too.]

On another note, my presents were a little complicated on the Djinn side – largely that she couldn't give 'em to me in front of the Dad [no, not like that] so when we went to pick up the Transformers Encore Big Cassette Mission Set 1 we also delightedly picked up a nice discounted bundle of TFA Blurr and Swindle [I paid for the Mission Set and she paid for the TFA] so the TFA made it as her present to me in front of the Dad.

My cake and prezzies. TFA bundle in that big spotted bag over there, the plaid with the Chinese from me Dad, and the last one ostensibly from me Dad's girlfriend [which was really dictated by me Dad]. Oh, and my Guitar Hero Les Paul says hello on the left.

The big 2-0! Or the big two candles. Imagine that. A bunch of you have known me since I was 12. Most of you have known me since I was 14. Scary, huh? )

So I did wish for something as retarded as the last one I wished for, which essentially means it will not come true. The spoils of the day were awesome, at least:

It's knowing and waiting, and knowing is half the battle. )

I'm going to have a time-warp interval a bit in the future just to mention that [info]catatonic_cats is some kind of weirdo who has this totally unwarranted affection for my handsome self and was rebellious enough to send me not only all the blank ACEO cards I told her not to, but also sent me some lovely paint/tea/ink-stained ones, and it all came with this box with pretty dangling things.

Seriously man! What is this?!?!?! )

Back to the 16th now. When the Dad went away full and satisfied and cheery about 12 dollar cake [he made off with almost 1/2 of it] Djinn and I kinda digested for a while and then proceeded on to get to Djinn's Real GiftsTM.

Her real gifts were, and are, her gift of writing. ::dodges some wailing and unhappy swipes:: You will not remember that last year, she filled up a bunch of flash cards that one of my weirdest friends [info]arrrghigiveup gave me with gay haiku. When we toddled about in Liang Court's Kinokuniya a few days before my birthday, we sighted them and she asked, "would you like haikus of Option A or Option B?" and I was like "man, I dunno…both? 8D" [::shifty eyed rephrasal::] Well, she took me seriously and she regretted it [recap top of entry anecdote].

4 different pen colours. Three days of writing. Two fandoms/pairings. A night of penning. 75+129=204 haikus.
That's what's in these things. And they both moved me to tears.

I don't cry. I particularly do not cry over writing. In fact, I am hardly impressed by writing. I avoid fanfiction and most sorts of 'serious writing' posted online because more often than not I sit down, read and start feeling so embarrassed for the writer that I can't focus on reading the words anymore. Often I rarely feel. I did not feel particularly sad when I read both of these [well, technically all of these]. But out of nowhere – I wept at the end. [Just like the last one…Do I see a trend here? Moving HaikusTM?] Very strange! But here, I can't resist some excerpts even though you won't know what's going on anyway:

From the black kitten… )

And from the blue bird… )

Wow, it was really hard not to put everything there! They all fit into a Meiji Meltykiss box, which we bought on the same day we bought the flash cards.

Oh, you know Djinn, that wasn't all. First there was this:

The image on my cake! )

And then there was this:

Which in my opinion is just really crazy beautiful. I was literally struck speechless.

And the full image is here in an incredibly romantic but also a very uh homoerotic [understatement] NSFW fashion. I've got it in a hard card on my table that I flip over to my cake image whenever my dad is in the house. 8D

So! That really about concludes it, I really could not think of anything better. It was pretty much bestest day ever, again. You know what, I really don't know what I've done to deserve this. Do I just inexplicably have some kind of weird good karma magnet or something? [info]silencestation is just the most brilliant person in the world to me and I have her waiting me hand and foot [well, not really, but she's liek my artsy bitch or something]. Then I have so many of you out there who are just so strangely nice to me, nice beyond words, so…so awesome to me. I don't get it! But thank you so tremendously much! There are no words to describe, like I said, only lots of flailing and adoration.

A few days later we went to the Bird Park to test my lens [under the staunch insistence of my dad, too] so you can expect some spam coming from that sometime soon. But really, everybody, thank you.

Next year end will mark 10 years since I started cosplaying. Creepy! Admittedly I can't say it's much of an achievement, getting old, because my vanity gave way to featuring my bjds' resinous perfection instead, but I still love the idea and would like to continue the hobby even if college threatens to consume whatever sanity is left. [If I had a gun....and if I weren't quite so logical I'd be like an idiot smoking pot, which alludes to shooting people in the head.]

There's really no point allowing fleeting fancies to drive my plans anymore since I don't have time, so I settled on a more solid list of people I'm so interested in and attached to that I really wouldn't care whether or not they'd been done a million times before. [Handily, most of them I love so much that they're relatively obscure, and so...]

Perma-list, largely for me own reference… )

Otherwise, I finally did that aforementioned root canal. I waited for 40 minutes past my appointment and thought to myself, "Please, for the love of God, don't let this procedure be something I can blog about." Other than the three injections that hurt akin to a dull mother, this was the most painless bit of dental work I have ever done. [I got over the drilling whine by listening to Death Cab on my iPod.] Now I weep as I have to return to the dentist prior who astutely noted my tooth was bad by smashing the end of her picky-tool against it. Oh God! I seek divinity in my moments of pain.

This breaks my heart so much. With a second year/first sem schedule I'll never be able to make the four race days, much less the trainings. What a stab of ache through my chest. Singapore had better continue running the GP so that I can volunteer when I'm in my later years. Nothing else to say other than D8, really.

I was spurred to write [dirty-word warning] fanfiction during my especially useless classes in my first sem and now, my second sem [hullo Financial Accounting] and they've all managed to revolve around one core topic alone. All I need is 300 to hit 10k words in writing I've done for this topic, and it frightens me. This is not my place.

I love Blurr. I love his Cybertronian!Blurr-responsibilities + G1!Blurr. I love seeing what happens when you don't have Roddy and G1-style Magnus to cover his flailing, airheaded robo-butt. How mindblowing he's smart and capable! But Roddy did say that he's smarter than most people realise, so I suppose this is it. I am deeply delighted that John Moschitta sounds just the same, and that they gave up giving him vocal directions after the extreeeemely slow convo with Bumblebee. He's adorable, he sounds gorgeous, I love his shrieks of terror because that was exactly the G1!Blurr panic; so I'm just getting this out before the TFA fandom goes to pot re: Bee.

Breaking the stream of food [but not for very long, really] – I have a dirty secret which will now be out: I'm back on deviantart, and I'm not in any pending danger there because my risqué subjects are girls instead! There, now my sekrit is out, and you can find me on ~stereophilic. [There're a few new things I put there I haven't posted here, of the dubious content aforementioned. ::cough::] Please let me know if you're (still) active on DA, I rummaged through my old friends in my prior account and most of you are inactive.

The only reason I have chosen to reveal that horrible little fact is because I was going to post a Transformers art meme, which was garnered from – gasp, that's right: deviantart. For shame! So I've done it, and it is here on deviantart. Otherwise, I'm insistently posting it here too, because it finally has giant robots instead of, yannow, girls. Ayup, I finally sat down and really drew Transformers, and I'm glad to say they're not hideously deformed. Olé!

Anyhow, I've always wanted to do this meme, and last night I felt the strange urge to suddenly do it, since I was lacking motivation for everything else. So armed with pencil [and later on, Photoshop], I embarked on filling in the 13 boxes. I drew it and scanned it, so that would explain the limited area ratio I used and why everything is aligned to the left. XD;;

Transformers Art Meme, complete with big mecha! It's really long dimension-wise. )

The food will return shortly.

First off :

"...tough crowd."

Yes you are! Tough crowd, only a few kind souls clapped for dear Prime - perhaps, like vaudeville too, he will fade under the glare of spotlights and cameras that swing towards the carefully constructed frames on screens; movies, just like vaudeville, G1 Prime is phased out by the really gaudy Blue!Fire decal-ed Mac Truck sponsored by GMC.

Well, you guys will still have to suffer me when I finally get that cane done, anyway.

Also, man, I wish the resin peeps were in a presentable state - they've either been wearing the same thing for the past few months' months, or mysteriously naked [well, not that mysterious, since I've been sewing...]. So just in case I don't get to dress one of the buggers up in time for the acres of lovely April babes, a belated happy birthday to [info]dechanique, [info]aichaku, [info]raydance - and an advanced happy birthday to [info]pho3nix, [info]kaisuki, [info]eluneth, [info]gothiquelolita and [info]sfsakana. [Yeah, that might explain uh, the lack of [info]yourbrains today...I swear it'll be up by tomorrow. Aha. aha. ahahaha.] Since it was also for [info]sangrose10, I had to finish it up before April. Naturally we had to take a photo to commemorate the occasion, so here I am with a nervous grin and eyes diverted to the side because I'm watching out for supermarket employees. )

I'm not ashamed to say we only bought Prime to faciliate [info]silencestation's presentation. But once he came home and we played with him, it was discovered he was a fabulous dancer [en pointe-able is largely our basic requirement]. Past qualifying for being the male lead in our little Transformers ballet troupe, there was something else about him.

I stuck a straw into his hands and we realised he was a Vaudeville entertainer.

So this photoshoot doesn't feature his strong-but-graceful ballet skills [nor a straw, because I should make a proper cane], but rather his entertaining prowess. Well, Prime is Prime.

In other - old - news: I've finally joined flickr. This sordid tale of my joining flickr starts with one major cause –

Postcrossing. I joined it because Postcrossing's gallery of postcards is a pool on flickr.

I suppose for posterity's sake, I should talk a little about Postcrossing. I found it very-not-long-ago from [info]shinsaber's innocent little entry about what to send to a Japanese lady in return. Upon prodding at the site and reading what it was about, I got inanely excited by the proposition. I suppose it's due to : 1. I like sending mail to people. 2. Postcards are awesome! 3. Making my own postcards is also awesome. 4. Taking photos for people's postcard preferences is rly interesting. I spent a couple of days going back and forth debating joining, until I bit the bullet and did it. On that same day, I set up my flickr account and along with it being used for Postcrossing purposes, I decided to plonk my greatest hits into it.

So re: Postcrossing, this is my Postcrossing profile. I've settled into a comfortable schedule of requesting two addresses a week [request on Friday, take appropriate action – i.e. photos, etc to their preferences, and send out latest Monday]. It's been a couple of weekends since I've joined, so yup, that means I've sent out 4 postcards. Today, joyfully, the first postcard was received, and now my profile page look a little happier. :] I hope the second one reaches the lady in one piece and soon. My flickr tag for sent postcards are here [information travels faster] - at the current moment you can only see that one which has been sent, the rest are waiting to be received and subsequently filed under public view.

And thus re: flicker, this is my flickr profile. So far there isn't anything spanking new [except for the latest photo I took for a lady in Estonia's postcard, which I am actually really raring to make public but I can't XD], but like said, they're my greatest hits collection. To my surprise, I've got a couple of comments, so I thought before I added some pictures to BJD-related pools as I was asked to, I'd post about it so you know I'm not shying away from you folks on flickr. XD;; I'll hopefully have something more to add soon.

Ooh, talking about postcards, that reminds me that we test-drived a BJD postcard of ours through Singaporean mail, and it came back safely after a day. XDDDD Just because I'm ridiculous, here's how it looks now!

Sei from us to us. )

I've been meaning to post for a while, but was largely motivated by my forage out into the Wild World today [ie. to Chinatown Square Center and back to Kovan to do much grocery-shopping] to do so because of a sight I have to record.

My dad was handily in the same area photocopying stuff, so he picked me up after grocery shopping [very conveniently, since I had a big grocery bag and three other bags of stuff that couldn't be fit into the grocery bag – I would've trudged home by MRT and foot]. As he drove out of the winding carpark, my eye caught…

A car that was modeled exactly like Binaltech Smokescreen.
And then I looked up and saw the little 'Taxi' sign, and realized that some geeky taxi driver decided to dress his atrocious blue taxi up as Smokescreen.
I was slightly bemused at first because Smokescreen's BT design has 'SUBARU' emblazoned across the front, and I didn't think that taxi was a Subaru; until I saw another taxi of the same model and realized that it was a Subaru. So evereh bodeh geeky in Singapore, man, watch out for that Smokescreen taxi and try to get a photo because I didn't manage to! TAT

Happy note : Transformers! Our Masterpiece Megatron was tragically impotent when we de-MISBed him, and the guys at U-Toys were all too nice to be willing to replace him. I went to collect TakaraTomy repaints of Classics Starscream and Megatron too, of which are painted lovely. I think they're finally getting used to the fact that we're actually collecting Transformers for ourselves.

Also, I still can't believe Botcon themselves basically created Screamer and Skyfire's kid. Duuuude. Man, everytime I see it my brain busts, and I like these guys!

That reminds me also that we actually have a lot more Transformers than we appear to have, and our dad has been nice enough to approve our collection of Giant Robots and has suggested - while looking at them on his own accord - that we should get a glass cabinet for them. Frankly, I think we get our collectors' genes from him, the man who has a ton of pretty-women-playing-chinese-orchestra-instruments figures, and other figures he finds beautiful, of which there are horses and oddly, sheep. Toy collection? HIS FAULT. XD

Firstly, I've got to link you to Djinn's little Singaporean drama : Katong Laksa 2009. This little gem came about last night when a cryptic conversation of whether one could be a writer in Singapore cropped up, and on the fly, she created a small passage what sent me into peals of laughter at every sentence [I think "he punched his tray onto the tray rail" was particular genius, and the last line had me falling off the bed in uncontrollable fits] – so if you dislike localised 'literature' and their blatant Orientalist exploitation of their Asian culture like I do, please read it, and make Djinn feel slightly better about me having made her post it in the morning before we've slept on a school day. XD

I'm taking a little time off today to plonk the art I've done but not posted in a while [and quickly post in [info]sangrose10 before three days are over], so here we go. Fair warning that they're in chronological order, and I just found some from uh, last year, so… XD;;;; Fair warning.

Girls, Girls, Girls )

For chronology's sake, one male picture breaks it. Damn you, Nat! )

Okay, back to Girls, Girls, Girls! [One mildly NSFW, undies] )

And that's about it. Now back to the sewing grind, and alternatively dreading D-Day Friday, which in local news, is the coming of my doom arrival of my A'Level results – and I'll probably have to survive through a couple of hours of the school gloating about how fantabulously the statistics did and ignore the students.

Just a short pop-in - well, largely I've been very busy; and I do somewhat resent people claiming I'm 'so lucky to veg at home' because 1. I don't veg, 2. You weren't forced to pick up crappy bit jobs that pay naff. Yup, oddly enough I'm been very busy keeping up the house, seeing Djinn off to school, sewing the Giselle stuff, working on the website(s), CGing, so on so forth. Unfortunately there's not enough hours in a day, and time keeps running out before I've really managed to do much, which I also resent. My casual time is going to end soon; I might've fucked up the A'Levels and so may be in reallydeppsheet when the beginning of March rolls around. Well, there're always night classes...

I'm still in a dilemma about the Giselle line, wherein I'm not sure if I should premake five of each because that's really going to take a while, and who knows if anyone would want to buy any at all [barring some lovely people who expressed their interest explicitly, but that certainly doesn't make up to five...] or whether I should premake one or two or three. But that wastes dye, which is always annoying... Well, I'll work more and we'll see.

Today I took a break from alternating at the computer and at the sewing machine to sit down and make patterns of ballet slippers to complete Petr's Giselle costume, so that I can finally take fullbody pictures of him and take his 'off with the fairies' eyes out of him; and him out of the Giselle costume which I'm fairly sure he's not happy in. The patterning took surprisingly fast, and a little trial test with recycled cloth scraps turned out decently pleasing, so I'll probably just complete the other side and call it a day later. In the meantime, Pet [sounds somewhat like Pi-yet, but joined and faster : Pyet?] can be all Cinderella-ed out.

It's been so long since I've touched the camera. As Djinn pointed out to me, the slippers likely should be dipped more - but I'll have to make the other side match, so oh well. It's been a while since I've done anything with ballet, and in retrospect I should've checked on the internet, but it worked out nicer than I thought it would/could, so I'll let it slide. I do admit there's little left of my ballet days, but 'least I still remember how they're constructed, and I can still do a mean pointe. That's better than Pet can do.

I've been having all sorts of torrid dreams that seem to cram together all the anxieties I shouldn't have since I'm not actually doing anything nowadays, what with school and schoolmates and - kitty litter? And relatives and being overseas? Whu?
I have been made quaintly happy though, with neu!preordered Transformers comig in, and that would explain my previous post, which was detailing great glee at them making a veddy hawt figure of Prowl.
That reminds me that I really should start doing the coding for the FSTs we're posting this month.

Going to the bank tomorrow to cuss at staff about false promises, but considering their line of work I'm not sure why I'm bothering.
That's my TMI post for the next month or so, or maybe until the next time I take photos again.

EDIT PS, my handle has been changed to M43. Not that it'll make an actual difference per se - but when you feel like indulging me you can go with 'M'.

In the past week or so, Djinn [[info]silencestation] and I have been involved in a little soap opera of our own concerning a certain issue, which has plunged me into nearly as deep depression as evoked by my prelim results. The best way to present it, I find, is in that innovative little script format that I use to relate [of all things - ] my forays into the medical world.

Metaphorically explained in - DAYS OF OUR JIVES - EPISODE 73 )

- Okay, the literal version goes like this : Agonising Origin Story )

There we go. That's the origin story of our ML Soundwave, and we know he's definitely a Decepticon - what a bitch we went through all that trouble and trauma for.

The real story? Comes from what (Laser)Boost does with that aforementioned credit card…

Drama Llama-tron Part II )

- More images, but this time more relevant to the actual product itself: Music Label Soundwave.

Soundwave, box-opening shots. )

Soundwave, boom-box style. )

Soundwave, transformed! )

For those considering getting him, by the way, don't get him if you're spoilt by an iPod, or mp3 players that do stuff like Shuffle [if you're really reliant on that]. He will frustrate you, being a really basic mp3 player. But me, the last music device I had was an MD Player, which was nearly the same thing except he's better because he's Soundwave.

There now, everything about Soundwave. :] He's currently being my little robot player while I study, along with the other Transformers hanging around. I'm glad life gave me a chance to properly get into Transformers, I know we would've been such huge Transformers fans if we weren't too late for it, what with Singapore being backdated on cartoons about 10 years or so. Well, better late than never!
